Changes in the Door–Tran Voucher Program Effective 12/01/09
Currently, individuals may purchase travel
vouchers from Door–Tran. For example, a $5.00 voucher may be
purchased for $2.50 that can be used for rides with the following 7
different transportation providers in Door County:
-Senior
Resource Center
-Service Taxi
-Sunshine
House
-Door County–Green Bay Shuttle
-American Red
Cross
-Door County Island Hopper
-Washington Island Community Van
The Wis. Dept of Transportation recently informed Door–Tran that it
needs to change the way certain federal transportation grants are
used to fund the voucher program. Beginning on January
1, 2010, 3 of the 7 transportation providers who currently
accept vouchers will no longer be able to do so.
Those affected providers will be:
-Senior
Resource Center -Sunshine House
-American Red Cross
WHAT CHANGES WILL OCCUR IN THE VOUCHER PROGRAM?
Vouchers purchased prior to December 1, 2009 will
be honored through December 31, 2009, just as they
are now by all 7 transportation providers. Any of the current
vouchers which have not been used by 12/31/09 may be returned to
Door–Tran, no later than January 15, 2010 for a
full refund of the purchase price.
Beginning December 1, 2009 and continuing into 2010,
Door–Tran will begin selling a new voucher
(different color) which will only be accepted for
rides on:
-Door County–Green Bay Shuttle -Service Taxi
Cab
-Door County Island Hopper
-Washington Island Community Van
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Door–Tran will be working
with WisDOT and other funding sources to develop an alternative
plan, (if possible), so vouchers may again be used
with the 3 affected transportation providers at a future date.
You can still use the 3 affected providers in 2010 – you
just won’t be able to use a voucher for your ride and will have to
pay the normal fare/donation. We thank you for your
participation in the voucher program and apologize for any
inconvenience created by this change.
